Whips, Wheels, and Community Feels

Whips, Wheels, and Community Feels

Pemberton knows how to throw a party on two wheels—and last Saturday, September 6th, was proof. The Pemberton Off Road Cycling Association (PORCA) hosted their first Pump Track Challenge & Jump Jam, bringing together riders of all ages, families, and fans of good dirt and good times for a session full of airtime and high fives.

Tucked into the base of T'szil or Mount Currie, the Pemberton Skills Bike Park buzzed with energy this weekend. From groms on their first hardtails to seasoned locals flowing the track and jumps.  The first ever event was a celebration of what makes the Pemberton riding scene so special: community, stoke, and a shared love for riding bikes.

Before the big hits started going down on the jumps, the action kicked off on the pump track. Riders lined up for timed laps, racing the clock and each other in friendly battles that had the crowd cheering every roller and berm. Groms on their Chromag Juice & Monk bikes showed up with laser focus and surprising speed, while a few of the older riders (and parents) proved they still had some race gas left in the tank. It was grassroots competition at its finest—fun, supportive, and just serious enough to keep it spicy.

There were no podiums, no pressure—just a bunch of passionate folks throwing down, cheering each other on, and soaking in the atmosphere. Whether it was a table-top nailed by a six-year-old on their first Juice or a the first adult dropping into the 'big line', every moment was met with pure stoke.  Chromag rider and a driving force behind the Signature bike, Marcel Hunt was on scene helping the judges and signing posters to stoke the kids out.

PORCA’s crew, along with a dedicated bunch of volunteers, put serious love into prepping the jumps, tuning the park, and making sure the vibes stayed high all afternoon. Big shout outs to everyone who helped dig, rake, run the mic, and kept the stoke flowing.

Events like these don’t happen without the support of local riders, families, and sponsors who believe in building not just a bike scene, but a culture. We’re proud to support PORCA and everything they do to keep the dirt jump spirit alive and rolling.
